Minichamps 1994 1:43rd Porsche Carrera Supercup Bernd Maylander

Since 93, the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup has been supporting the FIA Formula One World Championship. If you have seen an F1 race live then you've probably seen these cars run in a supporting race. This car was driven by Bernd Maylander, an experienced racer who has driven in the tough German Touring Car (DTM) championship, and who has been charged with the responsibility of piloting the Formula One safety car since 2000. His experience and ability to drive up to the car's high limits ensure that - although lap times increase dramatically during safety car running - speeds are still high enough to allow the race cars to function correctly. In May 2005, he was one of six Mercedes-Benz drivers taking part in a record drive. Three stock E320 CDI cars drove 100.000 miles in 30 days around the clock, which resulted in an average speed of 139.7 miles per hour.
